Everything Potar does with your sound.
An output and a volume for every app, in a native macOS menu. All free, no account.
Where the sound goes
One output per app
Speakers, headphones, AirPods, display: every app plays on the output you pick, all at the same time.
Two outputs for one app
“Also on…” sends the same app to a second output, say the speakers and the headphones.
Everything to one output
The icon next to “App volumes” sends every app to the same place, in one click.
Main output
Change your Mac's output from the menu by clicking its row.
Automatic fallback
Unplugged your headphones? The app carries on on the active output at the same volume, then switches back as soon as they return.
Volume
A volume per app
A slider for every app, independent of your Mac's volume. Double-click to reset it to 100%.
Up to 200%
For an app that's too quiet. No clipping: only the peaks are softened.
Volume for each output
Every output has its own slider at the top of the menu, AirPods included.
Silence
Mute
Silence an app in one click. Potar's menu bar icon gets a slash to remind you.
Solo
Hear just one app, with the S or a double-click on its icon. The others come back when the solo ends.
Mute everything
One key in the HUD mutes or unmutes every app.
From the keyboard
The ⌥⌘V HUD
Hold the shortcut: V moves from app to app, ↑↓ sets the volume, M mutes, S solos, ↵ changes the output. Let go and it closes. Mouse and scroll wheel work too.
Your own shortcuts
Change the HUD shortcut and its keys in Settings → Shortcuts.
Media and browsers
Now playing
The current track, play, pause, previous and next, right in the app's row: Music, TV, Spotify, VLC, QuickTime.
Browser tabsbeta
Turn on “Separate tabs” in Settings → Browsers: YouTube, Spotify web and the rest become separate sources as soon as they play, with their own volume, mute and output when the browser allows it.
Every day
Settings remembered
Every app gets its output and volume back when it returns.
Search and hide
Type a name to find an app or an output. An eye on hover removes what you don't use from the mixer.
Launch at login
Potar starts with your Mac, if you like.
Automatic updates
They install on their own when nothing is playing, and a notification tells you what's new.
Nothing else to install
No driver, no extension: Potar uses macOS's native audio. Signed and notarized by Apple, for macOS 14.2 or later.
